Josh plays

Duke Sonic

With the release of his fifth album, Deep Roots, in 2006, Josh Smith has established himself as one of the most versatile guitarists/vocalists in blues music today. A South Florida native, Smith’s love for the guitar began at an early age and his varying influences, including B.B. King and Muddy Waters, are reflected in the music he creates.

Currently based in Los Angeles, Josh Smith’s amazing talent on the six-string has turned many heads in the music industry, leading to session work and touring nationally and internationally with various recording artists, including Ricky Fante, Benny Cassette, 2006 American Idol winner Taylor Hicks and Grammy Award-winning artist/producer Raphael Saadiq.

Josh owns a Duke Sonic, one of the first pieces ever built. Juha built the guitar originally for The NAMM Show 2007, where he shared a booth with Mad Professor Amplification. Juha heard that Josh was going to be demoing MP at the booth, and thought to have one guitar specifically set up for Josh. By the end of the show the guitar changed owner…”

“My Duke is an indispensible tool in my toolbox. It is an exceptionally made guitar that sounds and plays like a top quality instrument should. The feel and finish is as good as it gets. It barks and growls like a p90 loaded 50’s era guitar. It will always be a part of my arsenal. I use it all the time.”
